Fake text messages accusing people of breaking Covid-19 lockdown rules are currently doing the rounds.
Police Scotland are warning people to be aware of the scam messages, which claim to be from the government.
Unwitting recipients are told they have been caught breaking lockdown rules, and need to pay a fine as a result.
People are urged never to click links or attachments attached to these messages, and certainly don't provide any personal details such as full name, address and date of birth.
Police Scotland say: "Criminals will use any opportunity they can to defraud the public out of money, often impersonating professional and legitimate organisations.
"We are aware of a text scam which appears as if from the Government, stating that the recipient is in breach of restrictions and will be fined."
In the event of a suspicious message, they add: "Don't allow yourself to be pressured into donating money, and never make donations by cash or gift card, or send money through transfer agents such as Western Union or Moneygram."
