Fake call centre: Cyber cell contacts FBI, CBI & ED

DEHRADUN: The state cyber cell -- in its ongoing probe of the fake international call centre, busted in Dehradun on July 21 -- on Wednesday contacted Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in USA, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED) and seven other agencies, after finding transactions worth Rs 225 crore in the call centre.

The other agencies contacted by it to seek help in the probe include -- Intelligence Bureau (IB), Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Income Tax (I-T) department, Department of Telecom, Central CGT Commission and State GST Commission. Ankush Mishra, deputy superintendent of police, state cyber cell said, “We have also written to Microsoft company as the accused in the call centre where duping foreign citizens in USA and Canada by claiming to be its tech support team members.”
