Fake ambulance registration case: Three aides of don-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari arrested

LUCKNOW: Three aides of don-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari were arrested in the fake ambulance registration case by Barabanki Police from Ghazipur district of UP on Tuesday.

All the three — Firoz Qureshi, Shahid and Surendra Sharma — carrying Rs 25,000 cash reward each used to drive the ambulance to places where the don visited in Ropar, UP and Delhi, said the police.

So far 11 persons have been arrested by police in connection with the case.

Earlier, an ambulance used by don Mukhtar during his stay in Ropar jail was found to be registered with Barabanki number after which the district police lodged an FIR on April 2 and began the hunt.

Barabanki superintendent of police Yamuna Prasad said that so far, Mukhtar Ansari, Alka Rai, Shesh Nath Rai, Saleem, Rajnath Yadav, Shoaib Mujahid, Anand Yadav and Ali Mohammed have been booked under the charges of forgery, criminal conspiracy, intimidation and furnishing false information to a public servant in connection with documentation related to the ambulance and all are behind the bars.

Prasad said that during the probe, names of Firoz Qureshi, Shahid and Surendra Sharma have cropped up and they were arrested.

However, two more aides of Ansari are absconding in connection with the same case.
