A faithful dog remained with his elderly owner after he had an accident while out walking.
The man was out walking his pooch in Portarlington, Co Laois on Monday night when he fell into a ditch and was unable to get out.
But loyal dog Jack stayed by his side until help arrived, alerting gardai to his location.
Emergency services rescued the man and he was treated by paramedics, with Jack keeping a watchful eye.
A photo shared on the official Garda Info Twitter account shows Jack anxiously looking into the back of an ambulance where his owner was being looked after.
Happily, the man was later discharged to go home with Jack.
Gardai tweeted: "Even when ambulance arrived Jack wouldn’t rest unless he could see him! Owner and Jack home now."
