Fair City will pay emotional tribute to former star Tom Jordan after tragic death

Fair City will pay an emotional tribute to Tom Jordan tomorrow night after he tragically passed away earlier this year.

Tom sadly died at the age of 82 in June, with the veteran actor having played Charlie Kelly on the hit soap since its very first episode in 1989.

And Carrigstown will pay a special tribute to the popular character in Thursday night's episode.

The cast will receive a call from Charlie's relatives in Canada, revealing that the Dublin native had died peacefully in his sleep.

Loved ones will gather in the Community Centre to pay their respects to a "gentleman through and through", remembering him as the "heart of the community".

Jim Bartley, who plays Bella Doyle, lead the tributes to Tom at the time of his passing, describing his late pal as “one of the best friends I’ve had in the business”.

He said: “I’ve known Tom for 40 years, and he was a big part of my life.

"Myself and Tom shared a dressing room in Fair City for nearly 30 of those years, since 1990 and they were a great 30 years.

“We’d discuss everything from the meaning of life to the profession we work in together over a pint, and he was one of the best friends I’ve had in the business.

“I’m going to miss him, and his Fair City family will miss him. He was such a steady part of the show, and he gave Charlie such credibility and life. My thoughts are with his wife and family.”
