Fair City star Ryan Andrews ends up in crutches after nasty accident before Christmas Panto

Fair City star Ryan Andrews ended up in crutches following a nasty accident.

The Dubliner has been preparing for his iconic role in The Olympia Panto this Christmas.

Fans feared that the show wouldn't go ahead this year but fortunately, Ryan is back on stage with James Patrice, Erin McGregor, and Maclean Burke, RSVP Live reports.

However, Ryan was hit by yet another setback this week, as he admitted to fans he was now on crutches while trying to prepare for the show.

Taking to Instagram, he shared his strapped foot, and while he didn't confirm details of the accident he assured fans he would continue with his role, adding, "the show must go on".

Fans were quick to rush in with well wishes for the soap, while some of Ryan's pals chimed in with jokes about his unfortunate accident, with one commenting: "anything to get out of rehearsals".

While Alan Hughes, added: "Ah jasus mr what happened ?anything to get out of those dance routines."

Speaking about taking part in the show every year, Ryan previously told RSVP Live: "The Olympia panto is so much more than a panto to me. This will be my 16th year doing it and performing for the audience at home means everything to me.

"This has never been done before, it is an original fairytale being brought to life. All of the fairytales will be brought into the plot in a bid to save the pantos. It is really exciting and really fresh.

"We are filming it in The Olympia Theatre which is like our second home and we will be there for 12 days. We are going to shoot it like a live show and then it will be available to stream."

And the actor is no stranger to hard work, admitting that while he moved into his dream hoem with girlfriend Michaela O'Neill this year it took three or four jobs at any one time to get there.

The Fair City star never got ahead of himself and nothing became "real" until he got the keys of the house in his hands.

He told RSVP Live: "Until I have a signed contract or I have keys in my hand, it is not real for me.

"Whereas Michaela was picking our colours and telling everyone after we went for the first viewing- we hadn’t even applied for a mortgage.

"She had mood boards done before we got to the banks so we had to rein ourselves in."
