Fair City psycho Ciaran Holloway is back to his old tricks on Tuesday night and kidnaps Katy O’Brien’s granny.
It’s been almost a year and a half since Katy escaped his clutches after 13 months in captivity - delivering the show’s longest-running storyline.
The exhausted plot finally came to an end back in May 2017, but it is set to be revisited again tonight.
Rose is struggling with dementia and creepy Ciaran, played by Johnny Ward, dupes her into leaving the house with him, believing he is her grandson Michael.
“We have to go now,” Ciaran tells Rose.
“Go where?” asks a wary Rose.
“You have to come with me,” presses Ciarán.
Rose refuses to leave, telling Ciarán to get out of her house.
When she moves to call Eoghan, Ciarán grabs the phone and says menacingly: “You’re not.”
Earlier Ciaran managed to trick Eoghan into leaving Rose home alone by pretending to be Tess in a bogus text.
When the penny finally drops, Eoghan rushes back to find that Rose is gone. Bosco and Eoghan then go looking for Rose while Katy discovers Ciarán’s attic hideaway.
Katy lures Tessa up to the attic and traps her, convinced she knows the whereabouts of Ciaran and her gran.
Meanwhile, Eoghan is worried about Katy’s mental state and demands she releases her hostage.
By Thursday, Rose has run out of her medication and Ciarán panics in his hideaway when he discovers Rose is diabetic.
But in a rare moment of kindness, Ciaran finds it and rushes out to the chemist to get her drugs.
Katy and Eoghan find out Rose’s prescription was filled and the week ends on a cliffhanger with Katy agreeing to a demand Ciarán sends her by text.
