Fair City's Ryan Andrews opens up on Dad’s COVID-19 ICU hell

Fair City actor Ryan Andrews has told how his dad was on life support in ICU after contracting COVID-19.

The soap star opened up about the terrifying experience in a post on Tik Tok and Instagram.

He revealed that his dad ended up in Dublin’s Mater Hospital on a ventilator after getting the virus, according to RSVP.

He said: “This day two weeks ago, my best friend and hero came home after the most terrifying ordeal ever.

“My dad contracted COVID when he returned to work after Christmas.

“For 10 days at home he felt progressively worse, went to the doctor and was rushed to hospital straight away where he collapsed on arrival.”

The actor said he was then put into a coma.

“Miraculously, he finally started to get stronger and they were able to take him off the life-support machine. I can't put into words what the doctors, and nurses particularly, did for my dad and my family.”
