Fair City fans happy as latest episode addresses Covid 'problem' that annoyed viewers

Fair City fans were happy to see face masks on actors as they headed to the shops on Sunday's episode after a lack of them in earlier shows.

The soap is only back on screens a week but fans have been discussing every detail on social media each night.

On Sunday night all cast members were donning masks as they entered shops which eagle-eyed viewers pointed out wasn't the case last week .

But with coverings now mandatory in shops fans applauded that the show was setting a good example.

However, episodes are filmed weeks in advance so not all rules will be up to date when the show airs.

One fan said tonight: "They must have been taking note. Masks all around and no problem hearing them."

Another added: "oooh masks in Spar this time."

The show has seen huge changes as a result of Covid-19 with many storylines shelved and filming procedures altered dramatically.

An RTE spokesperson for the soap told Irish Daily Mirror: “Everything Fair City has done in the past has had to change as a direct response to Covid-19.

“All previously planned storylines were parked as they weren’t tellable as such.

“Stories with huge numbers of people had to be scrapped. Intimate stories, family relationship stories had to be dropped.”
