Fair City actor Adam Traynor has set out on a new career after opening a therapy clinic.
Adam, who plays loan shark Aidan in the hit soap, runs the wellness centre in Ratoath, Co Dublin which specialises in salt therapy.
The actor admitted it's very different from his day job, and revealed what prompted him to start the unusual business.
He said: “It’s a bit contrasting to what I’m seen as on TV.
“Acting is my number one but when you’re an actor, it’s a tough industry to make money and keep yourself going so I wanted to try and invest in a business idea that was different.
“Our friend’s son suffered from a lot of respiratory and skin problems and he was on a lot of antibiotics and steroids, even after all these drugs, he never really improved so his mum researched other options and she did a few sessions at a salt therapy room and the results were amazing."
Adam told the Irish Sun: “So my wife and I went along to try it and we brought our kids with us, and we absolutely loved it.”
The Dubliner explained that the process is completely safe, and can be extremely useful at cleansing the skin.
He added: “It’s massive in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, but it’s starting to take off here now too. It’s all clinically proven, and a safe treatment for respiratory and skin conditions.
“Because its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it can loosen up excessive mucus and it speeds up the process of it leaving the body.
“It’s a very relaxing environment, we don’t allow any phones, and it feels so good for you.”
