Failed Edinburgh IT firm is bought out of administration by Irish operation

The business of Hutchinson Networks has been bought out of administration by PlanNet21, an Irish-owned company set up in 1998.

Blair Nimmo and Alistair McAlinden, the joint administrators from KPMG, announced the sale of the business to PlanNet21 Communications Ltd. The sale price has not been disclosed.

Edinburgh-based Hutchinson Networks was placed into administration on 13 May 2019, resulting in 94 redundancies.

The business kept on 13 employees to help provide a range of limited services to customers while KPMG explored the sale of the business and its assets.

Th firm was established in 2011 and provided IT network services to blue-chip and SME customers.

PlanNet21, experts in enterprise level data, voice and video projects, have offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Belfast, California and France.

It is understood that the company wishes to build its Edinburgh presence as a foothold in the UK.
