Fail tales of a thief: 'Ireland's worst criminal' caught red-handed on CCTV making pathetic Dublin car theft attempt

We're only a couple of days into 2021 but we already have a contender for Ireland's worst criminal wannabe.

This Dublin try-to-be-thief was caught red-handed on CCTV making a pathetic car theft attempt in the northside.

Car owner Louis M living in Drumcondra had left the windows open in his car for just two minutes to air it out but spotted a man wearing blue medical gloves having a search around.

Louis worst fear was that the thief might have had the technology to snatch his car without the key but thankfully it didn't move an inch.

By the time the car owner had got down to confront the man outside, he had fled the scene with Louis worried that he may have been stung badly in the quick car theft.

But no, instead the petty criminal was only interested in penny cash as he raided the man's car...for toll coins.

Relieved that the toll thief coined 'Dublin's worst criminal' had only taken €4, Louis rushed to have a look at the CCTV.

He told Dublin Live: "I had left the windows open for two minutes to air out the car and spotted this man wearing blue medical gloves having a look for something nice to take.

"All he got was my toll coins. He took €4 and the car was unlocked for two minutes... he could have done so much more damage."

On a serious note, Louis added: "There's been way too many break-ins in Drumcondra as of late so make sure your car windows and doors are locked at all times.
