FAI receive near €3m boost in latest government funding announcement

The FAI have been awarded €2.757 million in government funding - from a pot of almost €52 million.

The money has been handed out under a number of separate support programmes, including a Budget 2023 funding package of €35m to help alleviate the impact of increased energy costs for sports clubs and organisations.

The Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) was launched by Sport Ireland on November 15.

To date, €21m has been allocated to support sporting organisations with the rising energy costs associated with the provision of sport.

The remaining funding will be allocated by Sport Ireland early in the New Year.

€1.257m of this latest cash boost for the FAI comes under the SESS banner, while €1.5m is in the form of Covid funding, allocated to help sports organisations to continue their recovery and growth post-pandemic.

The GAA is in receipt of the largest payment, of €12.957m, including €11.73m in SESS funding.
