FAI pledges support for Vera Pauw in wake of report into alleged misconduct

The FAI on Thursday night pledged its support to senior women’s manager Vera Pauw in the wake of an investigation into alleged allegations of misconduct by NWSL staff and coaches.

A report published on Wednesday evening referenced allegations against Pauw - and her former club Houston Dash apologised to players for the alleged behaviour by former coaches.

Pauw provided a written denial ‘of what she suspected were the allegations against her’, according to the report.

And having not made any comment immediately after the report’s release, the FAI on Thursday night broke their silence with an expression of support for Pauw.

It read: “The Football Association of Ireland is aware of an NWSL/NWSLPA joint report into historical events within its own League in which Republic of Ireland Women's National Team Manager Vera Pauw has been referenced.

“Neither the FAI or Vera had sight of this report before it was published and we note that Vera has already expressed her views to the authors of the report.

“The FAI continues to support Vera and her team as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.”
