A second match involving Limerick FC is being investigated for ‘unusual betting patterns’.
The FAI tonight confirmed it has launched a probe into their August 24th FAI Cup clash away to Sligo Rovers.
First Division outfit Limerick led their Premier Division rivals 2-0 after seven minutes but lost 6-2 and had three players sent off.
Limerick’s league game against Shelbourne in April is already being investigated by the association.
The FAI said it is acting on the back of a UEFA report into two Limerick matches and a spokesman said the investigations are ongoing.
“We are committed to a zero tolerance policy on match fixing in conjunction with UEFA. The FAI is also aware of a Garda investigation into match fixing,” he said.
On Tuesday, the Garda National Economic Crime Bureau swooped on a sports ground in Limerick where a number of mobile phones were seized.
