FAI Junior Cup Final in doubt after appeal launched against Sheriff YC

The FAI Junior Cup Final, set for this Saturday in the Aviva Stadium , could be delayed after an appeal against North Dublin club Sheriff YC was launched by Limerick side Aisling Annacotty.

Sheriff defeated Annacotty 1-0 in their delayed semi-final clash in the AUL Complex last Sunday after thier fixture was delayed due to two previous appeals against clubs for fielding ineligible players.

And it is understood that Annacotty have two objections regarding registration of Sheriff players taking part in the game, according to the Limerick Leader.

The lodging of the appeals looks set to delay any fixture going ahead on Saturday.

The game is slated for a 5pm kick-off in the Aviva Stadium, following on from the Intermediate Cup Final between Crumlin United and Cork side Avondale United at 2pm.

Aisling Annacotty and Regional's quarter final wins over Westport and Sheriff YC were both appealed, with Regional being dumped out of the competition as a result, allowing Sheriff back in to beat their Limeirck neighbours.

Colin O'Brien: 'Why should a young player suffer because of an opponent cheating and an official being misled?'
