The FAI are investigating unusual betting patterns related to Shelbourne's 2-0 victory over Limerick last week.
Dublin side Shels were backed in from 5-4 to 2-7 in the immediate build-up to the in the SSE Airtricity League First Division match.
FAI sources confirmed to RTE that they are looking into the patterns, while several bookmakers also contacted them over irregular betting, especially relating to punts placed on the Reds winning by more than one goal before they opened the scoring in the 38th minute.
Bookmakers are also required to report any irregular betting activity to UEFA.
Goals from Karl Moore and a Lorcan Fitzgerald penalty gave Shels the win, with the scoreline threatening to be significantly higher were it not for the stellar performance of Limerick goalkeeper Jack Brady.
This is not the first time in recent seasons that a First Division game has come under scrutiny after Athlone Town were investigated for three separate games in 2017.
