Marc Canham has been appointed as Director of Football at the FAI while John Morling returns to the association as a senior football consultant.
Englishman Canham, who succeeds Dutchman Ruud Dokter following his departure after eight years, will start on August 1.
The 39-year-old is Director of Coaching with the Premier League and has worked within the coaching structure of English football’s top flight for the last nine years.
As a player, he had spells with Colchester United, Bournemouth, Batch City and Hayes & Yeading United.
Pro Licence holder Canham has been tasked with “setting, driving and delivering the FAI’s overall football, technical and development strategies”.
In a statement, Canham said: “I’m really excited to take up this opportunity to work in partnership with everyone in Irish football.
"Collaboration and teamwork are the key values of how I work and operate. I look forward to working closely with everyone within the Irish game.”
Canham, who has Irish grandparents, is relocating to Ireland.
FAI chief executive Jonathan Hill said: “The appointment is a really progressive decision and one we are very excited by.
“Marc offers real experience in delivering change across complex football structures and stakeholders.
“I trust his dynamic and all-inclusive approach will deliver across all levels of our game.”
Meanwhile, former Ireland Under-15, 16 and 17 boss Morling is returning to the association as Senior Football Consultant from next week.
He was academy manager at Premier League club Brighton for almost the last 10 years and will report to Canham, with a particular focus on young Irish player development.
FAI chief Hill added: “Together with Marc’s leadership of a newly created Football Development strategy, John’s knowledge and ideas are going to be hugely beneficial.”
