I’m not sure why you give such prominence to the views of a Blairite who thinks nothing has changed since 2008 and that the sole aim of “our lot” is to get the other lot out, if need be with the help of a third lot (Labour must plan for coalition with Lib Dems, says Mandelson, 26 January). The intellectual and spiritual poverty of New Labour is apparent. The idea of social change is clearly long gone. This is Tweedledum politics of no interest to anyone without a broad bottom and a government limousine.

• Maurice King suggests (Letters, 23 January) writing a posthumous email entitled “I have died” to be sent to one’s friends. While you are about it, why not also write your own obituary, as I have done, and leave it with your executors? Much safer than leaving it to someone else to write.
