Facundo Pellistri says he is raring to go in a Manchester United shirt and thanked the club's fans for their welcome messages after making a life-changing transfer from Uruguayan side Penarol.
United completed a deadline day move worth an initial £8million for the 18-year-old winger, who has been tipped as a future superstar.
He is expected to go straight into training with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior squad, though could play some games for the Under-23s as well. His move came on the same day United secured a deal for Atalanta's Amad Diallo in a deal that could be worth as much as £37.2million.
And Pellistri, who has been named in United's squad for the upcoming Champions League group stage, took to Instagram to react to the transfer.
He said: "I am so happy for this new challenge in my career and proud to defend this amazing shirt. Thank you for your welcome messages. Let's go reds!"
Penarol vice-president Rodolfo Cantino recently revealed how their request to take Pellistri straight back on loan was rejected by United.
“Of course we asked for it," he told Referí. "We tried in every way but they argued that they wanted the player now. It’s normal, when a European club buys a player, they travel immediately.”
It remains to be seen how much first-team football Pellistri plays at United, but the move has been endorsed by former Old Trafford favourite Diego Forlan, as well as fellow new signing Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan duo are both excited about Pellistri's potential, which could be unlocked at United.
