Manchester United’s 25-man squad for the Premier League season has been revealed, and there appear to be some surprise exclusions.
The league had asked all clubs to submit a group of 25 players that were eligible to represent United for the rest of the campaign.
Of course, the usual faces such as Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire are all included.
However, new signing Facundo Pellistri and academy graduates Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams have been left out of the squad.
That is because they are under the age of 21 upon submission, and are not required to be submitted as part of the 25-man squad.
The squad is broken up mainly into two separate lists - a main list and a homegrown list.
The homegrown pool of players can include those who have been registered with any club affiliated to the FA or FAW for a period of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before their 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which they turn 21).
The list does not take into account nationality or current age, meaning the likes of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are included, despite representing France and Scotland respectively at international level.
Marcos Rojo has been included in the main list of players, but Phil Jones has been left out completely.
