Facundo Pellistri reveals his nickname at Manchester United

Facundo Pellistri has revealed a short and simple nickname at Manchester United with his teammates referring to him as 'Pelli'.

Pellistri joined United on deadline day of the summer transfer window from Penarol with a glowing recommendation from former United forward Diego Forlan.

The 18-year-old has made an excellent start to life in England, scoring in his last three appearances for Neil Wood's U23 development side including a strike in the Manchester derby.

Pellistri continues to train with the first-team squad at Carrington and was included in United's squad for the Champions League group stages.

Like most players in the squad, it didn't take long for the youngster to be given a nickname by his teammates but the youngster revealed it's nothing out of the ordinary.

"They call me Pelli," Pellistri told the United website. "I have been asked about what I like to be called.

"Some players call me Facu but others Pelli and, most of the time, it's Pelli!"

Pellistri is set to be given another chance to impress against Chelsea U23s and could come face-to-face with Premier League legend Petr Cech.

The 38-year-old is out of retirement acting as a back up goalkeeper for Frank Lampard but was forced to feature for the U23 side last time out against Spurs.

Pellistri is relishing the opportunity to test himself as such an accomplished shot stopper if Cech features again.

He added: "We've been preparing for this match and we are ready for being there in London and playing such a good team that is Chelsea.

"I'm really looking forward to playing against him [Cech], as he is such a legend in football. I'm really hoping to be on the pitch against him and shooting against him!"
