Facundo Pellistri reacts to first Manchester United goal

Facundo Pellistri said it was 'amazing' to score his first goal in a Manchester United shirt.

Pellistri arrived at United on deadline day in October, signing in a £7.65million deal from South American giants Penarol and, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects big things from the winger, he has been adapting to English football by playing in the Under-23s.

The 18-year-old has put in some impressive displays for Neil Wood's side and grabbed his first goal in red during Friday's 3-1 victory against Southampton, latching on to Shola Shoretire's pass before coolly slotting past the goalkeeper.

Pellistri is delighted to get off the mark and is enjoying his start to life in Manchester.

“I'm really happy with the team,” Pellistri United's official site.  “The intensity was very good and, luckily, we take this match as it was very hard. But I'm very happy with that.

“It was amazing [to score]. I was really looking forward to this goal. It is my first goal and I'm really happy with it. Hopefully, more are coming.

“I'm settling in much better. I am enjoying my time here in Manchester, in this club - with the Under-23s and with the first-team. My team-mates are very kind with me and this is a very important reason why I am feeling much better with my performances and life here.”

Pellistri could have another chance to perform in Tuesday's EFL Trophy second round match against League One side Accrington Stanley.
