FaceTime inspection seals $2.7 million Belmont sale

BIG SALE: A local buyer locked down in Melbourne bought 32 The Shores Way sight unseen.

Melbourne's lockdown proved no barrier to the $2.7 million sale of a Hamptons-inspired home in Belmont.

A video walkthrough on FaceTime was enough to secure the sale of a five-bedroom home at 32 The Shores Way to buyers who had recently sold in Eleebana.

"Their sister-in-law came out to view the property for them on their behalf and showed them around on a video call," LJ Hooker Belmont's Josh O'Doherty said.

The property had sold for $1.75 million in December 2017 before undergoing a major renovation.

The sellers intend to complete another showpiece house in Valentine - this time a complete knock-down and rebuild project - with the buyers set to move up in about eight weeks.

Mr O'Doherty said the sale was unprecedented for a non-waterfront property in the area.

"We hit a Belmont non-waterfront record really," he said.

"It was on a big block -1900 square metres - but certainly not an acre, it's a special house."

A guide was not disclosed for the property, which was for sale via expressions of interest.

The sale follows a string of recent multimillion-dollar sales in Belmont, including $4 million-plus results for 144 Ross Street, 100 Ross Street and 148 Ross Street.

The Belmont home had been renovated since selling for $1.75 million in 2017.
