Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram go down as technical issues wreak havoc in Ireland and UK

Social media users are going mad this morning after Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp have all crashed.

Hundreds of people reported the issue on Twitter with Downdector.co.uk receiving over 100 complaints since 11am.

It's not yet clear what the problem was - but the sites were back up and working briefly just after 12pm before they once again cut off until around 2pm.

In the meantime many have relied on Twitter to vent their frustrations.

One said: "Here we go again. Facebook and Instagram are down and now everyone will rush to Twitter to complain about it."

Another wrote: "Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook down. Happy ‘Interacting with your family day’ you all."
