Facebook users confused by new layout - here's how to change back to the old version

Many Facebook users have been left very confused today, having been swapped over to the new desktop version.

The ‘new’ Facebook was introduced back in May, but has been rolled out to several UK users this week.

Facebook explained: “It’s faster, easier to use and gives your eyes a break with Dark Mode.”

The new version has a much more minimalist design than the previous version.

The top of the website has been changed from blue to white, and includes light grey icons for the News Feed, Facebook Messenger, notifications, Watch, Marketplace and Groups.

Facebook’s logo has also been changed, with the letter ‘F’ now in a brighter and lighter blue circle.

And while Facebook Stories used to appear on the right of the page, these have now been moved to the middle, and are represented by rectangles rather than circles.

The redesign has started rolling out to some users, and the initial response hasn’t been great.

One user tweeted: “I really don’t like the new Facebook layout. I don’t know what it is, but I know I don’t like it.”

Another added: “It seems they're actively trying to make it more unpleasant to encourage me to leave.”

And one joked: “I just got the new Facebook layout on my computer. It's like they took the Twitter website and made it more complicated.”

Thankfully, there’s a simple way for you to swap back to the old version.

Simply log in to Facebook on your computer, and click the small arrow in the top right corner.

Just above ‘Log Out’, you'll see the option to switch back to the old version!

It remains unclear when Facebook plans to roll the new version out to all users.
