Facebook's response as it goes down with Instagram and Whatsapp

Facebook has responded to thousands of its users being unable to access the site today (April 14).

The social media platform, along with Instagram and Whatsapp, have all been down for around three hours.

This is not the first time the tech giant has been hit by problems as the hashtag #FacebookDown demonstrates.

A spokesperson for Facebook said it is "working to resolve the issue as soon as possible".

They said:"We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

Somewhat ironically, users were advised to keeping an eye on the platform's Twitter account for further updates here.

Many social media users have also been taking to Twitter to express their frustration with the situation.
