Facebook makes change to logo to stop people getting confused

Facebook has decided to change its logo to stop people getting confused between the actual company and its social media platform of the same name.

The tech giant has rebranded to FACEBOOK, while the social media platform will continue to be Facebook.

Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Occulus, which the company also owns, will start carrying the new FACEBOOK branding in a few weeks, according to Business Live.

The new logo will see the distinctive blue design changed to a new multicolour alternative.

The rebrand has been designed to make it it easier for people to differentiate between the social media platform and its parent company.

However, the website and app will continue to use the old blue branding.

Facebook's chief marketing officer Antonio Lucio said in a blog: "People should know which companies make the products they use. We started being clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook years ago.

"This brand change is a way to better communicate our ownership structure to the people and businesses who use our services to connect, share, build community and grow their audiences."
