Facebook likes London: Tech giant set to take more office space in the capital

Facebook has reportedly signed for office space at 1 Triton Square

Facebook has appeared to show a ‘like’ for London, with the tech giant lining up more space to move into in the capital.

Facebook already has offices in the capital, including a significant amount of space at British Land’s Regent’s Place campus near Euston station. It is now understood to have also agreed a 310,000 square feet letting at 1 Triton Square on the campus.

That building has been revamped and could be used by thousands of workers potentially.

Property magazine EG, which revealed the deal, said Facebook’s decision to scale up its office footprint “comes after it committed to several new innovation projects in recent months”.

A number of tech behemoths have delayed returns to offices, including Amazon, as well as Facebook to January in the US, amid ongoing concerns with the Covid-19 delta variant.

Scores of employers are looking post-pandemic workspace plans, with many planning to offer a mix of office and remote working.

The space Facebook is taking, which will be seen as a vote of confidence in London, had been due to be used by advertising company Dentsu International, but it will now remain at its existing space on the campus.

A Dentsu International spokesman said: “Like many organisations, Dentsu International have been examining future ways of working with employees alongside the changing needs of the business. Through this evaluation, we have committed to a new hybrid model of working that blends both office and remote working, providing flexibility and balance for our people.”

The spokesman added: “This change has provided an opportunity to re-evaluate our property requirement and we have negotiated with British Land to remain with our current lease agreements at 10 and 20 Triton Street.”

British Land declined to comment and Facebook could not be reached for comment.
