Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp down: Users complain of picture problems and outage

It appears that WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook have all crashed this afternoon.

Social media users have been complaining of issues with the three platforms - on Twitter - and according to DownDetector, the independent outage monitor, the issues are affecting the whole of the UK and even parts of the US.

The tracking site saw a surge in complaints shortly before 3pm on Wednesday (July 3).

Though no official comment has been made for the cause, 82% of those who reported problems with Instagram said the issue was with the News Feed, 11% with the website, and 6% with log-in.

Similar issues have been reported with Facebook - the main bulk of complaints revolving around pictures - whereas WhatsApp users are struggling to receive messages.

Reports of issues for each Facebook-owned site topped more than 2,000.

Venting their frustrations, one Twitter user said: "Facebook images appear to be broken for me, how about ya'll?"

Another said: "#instagram and #Facebook are down let’s hangout in Twitter for a while."

A third commented: "Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are down...zuck sort it out, my millennial office can't cope."

"Facebook messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram images are down.  ITS AN EMERGENCY," panicked a fourth.
