Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram down and not working as users report major outage

Social media users are reporting that Facebook is down.

Others have also reported having problems accessing Instagram and in some cases WhatsApp.

Facebook started experiencing problems late on Sunday morning, according to independent website DownDetector.

The site has logged more than 4,700 reports from users struggling to access it.

It appears to be a global problem as there are reports of issues world wide.

The outage is also affecting users who use the mobile site and desktop version.

With the service unavailable, people have been taking to Twitter - to talk about Facebook being down.

One Tweeter wrote: "Everyone coming from Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram to twitter to see if everything is actually down."

Another wrote: "Again. It's like 10 mins that i'm trying to use Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram but it doesn't work."

And one other user tweeted saying they could use WhatsApp, but not Instagram or Facebook,

They added: "I'm having trouble with Facebook feed, Facebook messenger and Instagram, nothing is loading. Whatsapp is working for me which is strange."

Facebook has yet to comment.

Facebook had more than 2.3 billion monthly active users across the world as of December 2018. The company owns Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
