Facebook down: Bebo comeback on the cards as people call for old favourite to return

A Bebo comeback could be on the cards as people called for the old favourite to return while Facebook was down.

Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all went down yesterday, October 4, for a total of six hours.

And during the outage, Irish social media users took to Twitter in their droves calling for Bebo to return.

Before Facebook took over the world, Bebo was Ireland's favourite social media platform.

The social networking site was especially popular with teenagers and college students in 2005.

The company went bankrupt in 2013, but relaunched in February 2021 and is currently in private beta-testing phase.

During the Facebook outage, social media users looked back fondly on Bebo.

One Twitter users wrote: "Since Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp is down.. Bebo it’s time. Relaunch for the masses. Let us all go back to simpler times of sparkly skins."

Another person tweeted: "Now is the time for Bebo to make its comeback!!"

One person said : "msn & bebo definitely never broke this much...the good old days"

Many Twitter joked they were returning to their MySpace and MSN messenger accounts.

Bebo had many features that are not available on Facebook or Instagram. Here are some Bebo highlights that you may have forgotten.
