Facebook announced an upcoming feature that will allow users to block certain words, phrases and emojis from appearing in comments on their timeline, as part of its efforts to combat hate speech and disinformation on its platform.

The CNET website reported that currently, Facebook users cannot eliminate abusive content that appears on their pages before its release, which limits the ability to combat such content.

But the upcoming feature will enable the user to block specific words, expressions and emojis from appearing in the comments written on his page.

According to the German news agency, this feature was alluded to in a blog post in October as rolling out in the coming months, yet, blogger Jane Manchun Wong, specializing in developing apps to find hidden features revealed it on Monday.

This new blocking feature closely resembles Twitter's muting options that also lets you ban certain words and phrases.
