Facebook and other apps all phone users should delete immediately

It's easy to end up with too many unnecessary apps on your phone.

These apps can take up valuable space and slow your phone down over time, but they may also be violating your privacy, according to tech experts Komando. An app can be classed as redundant when it offers features your phone already provides.

Despite this, many of us forget to delete them, which can in some cases lead to third parties trying to collect your data.

Here's a list of apps everyone should delete from their phones, as reported by Komando.com.

1. QR code scanners

During the pandemic, QR codes became a useful tool for people to use to order food from their phone in restaurants rather than a traditional menu. This led to a lot of people downloading QR code scanner apps to their smartphones. However, most Android and Apple users can use their camera app to scan a QR code instead to save space on their phone.

2. Scanner apps

Scanner apps allow you to take a picture of a PDF and adjust the lighting. But to save valuable space on your phone, you should delete these apps and use your phone camera instead. By deleting these apps, you'll also be stopping a third party from potentially collecting your data.

3. Facebook

If you've had the Facebook app on your phone for a few years, it may be taking up a lot of space on your phone.

According to Komando, overtime the Facebook app will connect with other programs in a complex web of data. This can slow your phone down over time, and leave less space for other things.

To solve this, you should delete the Facebook app and redownload it. While this won't get rid of all the space taken up by the Facebook app, it will clear a lot of space that's been taken over the years.

4. Torch apps

Torch apps are no longer necessary as most phones come with a built in torch that's easy to use. But if you still have these kind of apps installed on your phone, you should delete them to protect your privacy and security.

Many of these apps will request permission to track your location, while others were found to contain malware that infects the users who install them.

5. Bloatware apps

When you first got your phone you may have noticed it came with several apps already installed on the device. These pre-installed apps are known as "bloatware" because they take up space, reduce battery life and can impact performance.

Some of these apps are locked by the device manufacturer to ensure you can’t uninstall them. However, if you've got an Iphone these are some of the built-in apps you can delete if you wish to: Tips, Stocks, Shortcuts, Reminders, Notes, Watch, Weather, News, Measure and Compass.
