‘Face/Off’ actress Romy Walthall dead at 57

Film and TV actress Romy Walthall, whose decadeslong career included a role in the classic action flick “Face/Off” and appearances on popular series such as “The X-Files,” has died.

Walthall died in Los Angeles on May 19, her son told Variety. The actress had suffered sudden cardiac arrest.

After beginning her entertainment career as a model, Walthall landed a string of acting gigs during the mid-1980s. That included roles in the 1984 films “Up the Creek” and “Thief of Hearts,” and on an episode of “Charles in Charge” that same year.

Her list of acting credits continued to expand toward the end of the decade and into the 1990s, with notable projects including her portrayal of Rita on the sitcom “Man of the People” and a recurring role as Audrey Wilkes on the legal drama “Civil War.”

In “Face/Off,” which premiered in 1997, Walthall played the secretary Kimberly, who worked with John Travolta’s character, Sean Archer. Nicolas Cage also starred in the movie about an FBI agent who has face surgery in order to take on the persona of a killer.

The actress’ daughter wrote in an Instagram message to honor her mother, “I will always always always love you ferociously.”

“I’ve resigned myself to the fact that there will never be any appropriate combination of earthly words to accurately describe my mother. You just had to be there to get it. She was everything at once,” wrote Isabella Israel.

“She was my first love. She was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen and she was wicked and fun and light and dark and she possessed the kind of magic that you truly just don’t see.”
