Face of Nottinghamshire man jailed for stealing and being a constant menace in town

A man has been jailed after stealing from two cars and continually breaking the conditions of a criminal behaviour order. Shane Hulls, 32, was originally handed the order following persistent acts of antisocial behaviour.

This included aggressive begging around Retford, in Bassetlaw. Hulls, of no fixed address, was banned from entering Retford town centre for two years as part of the criminal behaviour order.

He was also given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay compensation for the offences. Hulls was found to have broken the conditions of his criminal behaviour order on Sunday, April 17.

Sergeant Sam Pearson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have received numerous complaints from members of the public about Hulls’ actions. Tackling anti-social behaviour is a key priority within neighbourhood policing as a whole and can take up large portions of officers’ time and resources.

“With this in mind, we’re extremely pleased to see that the courts have taken Hulls’ offending seriously and have handed him a custodial sentence.”

Appearing before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, Hulls was handed a 12-week custodial sentence.
