Face of Nottingham man who allowed homes to be used in international drugs ring

This is the face of a narcotics importer linked to an international drugs ring which posted large and valuable amounts of cannabis and cocaine to flood the streets of Nottingham.

Orvil Brown was jailed for five years yesterday (Wednesday, January 5) after a court heard the drugs were sent to addresses linked to him but in fake names and hidden inside parcels of shot glasses, ashtrays and clothing.

His picture was released by Nottinghamshire Police on Thursday, January 6, alongside a photograph of how some of the drugs were hidden inside their illicit cargo destined for the city.

His on-and-off partner, care worker Jaurdan Scarlett, was involved in the importation of cannabis but not the cocaine.

Packages arrived from America, Jamaica and the Cayman Islands to addresses linked to them.

Police arrested Brown and Scarlett after executing a warrant at an address in Bestwood on January 5, 2021.

Brown, 54, of Pine View, Radford, pleaded guilty to conspiring to fraudulently evade a prohibition on the importation of cocaine and cannabis.

Mother-of-two Scarlett, 31, of Arnside Road, Sherwood, pleaded guilty to conspiring to fraudulently evade a prohibition on the importation of cannabis and was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 12 months. She is required to complete 20 rehabilitation activity days and 120 hours of unpaid work.

After the case, Detective Constable John Hollis, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “There was very strong evidence to link Brown and Scarlett to the importation of a high amount and high value of drugs taking place over a number of years.

“This was a complex investigation, with different force departments working together on it, and this diligent work led to their arrests".
