Face of man who killed mum after hitting her in Nottingham car park

An image has been released of the man convicted of manslaughter after the death of a 48-year-old mum.

Gary Parnell, 59, was sentenced on Monday, January 11 at Nottingham Crown Court over the death of Deborah Jones, also known as Deborah Hendrick.

Ms Jones died on August 1 at the Metro Car Park in Union Road following an altercation with Parnell.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 11pm and she was given CPR by paramedics but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Parnell of Lytham Gardens, Top Valley was given a sentence of six years and nine months by the judge, and will spend half of that time in custody.

The judge, speaking to Parnell during his sentencing, said: "The harm caused by you could not have been greater".

He went on to explain how the pair had got into an argument which lead to Parnell striking Ms Jones at least once, causing her head to hit a wall which proved fatal.

The judge added: "I accept you did not mean to cause her death or serious injury, but at least some harm."

He gave Parnell a reduction in his sentence for his guilty plea.

The judge added his hopes for Ms Jones' loved ones to be able to "move on with their lives" following the conviction.
