Face of man who broke into Nottinghamshire pub and stole thousands

A man who stole more than £3,000 in cash from a Nottinghamshire pub during an early morning break-in has been jailed.

At 4am on March 18, Ryan Dunning, 42, of no fixed address, broke into Oliver’s Pub in Eastwood and stole tins containing cash.

Nottinghamshire Police were called and told that Dunning had left the pub and fled the scene riding a bicycle.

It was thought that he was carrying weapons and had not travelled far.

Dunning was spotted pushing a bicycle up Church Street. Police arrested him after the cash tins from the pub were found on him.

Officers also recovered a bag containing axes, pliers, cable cutters and other items nearby.

He was sentenced to 16 months in prison for burglary, possession of a bladed article and possession of a class A drug at Nottingham Crown Court via video link on Friday May 22.

Detective Constable Andrew Sibley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to quick work from our response officers, we were able to arrest Dunning near the scene and recover stolen items.

“Nottinghamshire Police is committed to protecting local businesses and we will investigate all reports of burglary thoroughly.

“This incident could have had a devastating impact on the pub both financially and for the owners and I hope today’s sentence brings some closure for the victim involved.”
