Face of man police want to speak to after 59-year-old woman coach driver battered

This is the man police want to speak to after a 59-year-old female coach driver was battered and bitten after a thug demanded he be given a late-night ride home.

Jane Brown was confronted by a lout when she had finished work at Liverpool ONE bus station who sneaked onto her out-of-service coach.

A man then angrily demanded, 'take me to Aigburth!', when she refused, he lashed out, punching the gran-of-four and repeatedly sinking his teeth into her leg.

The assault, which lasted for several minutes during which Ms Brown ended up grappling with the yob on floor, was accompanied by volleys of verbal abuse from the out-of-control attacker.

Today, the ECHO can reveal images of a man, released by Runcorn-based MP Travel, captured on the coach CCTV.

It shows photos of someone getting onto the Mega Bus who detectives are keen to speak to about the beating.

The attacker was said to be "off his face," Ms Brown believes.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy said: “This was an unprovoked and nasty assault on a woman who was simply carrying out her job.

"She had stopped at the Liverpool One bus stop and was unloading luggage, when the offender boarded the bus before becoming aggressive and assaulting the victim, leaving her injured.#

“We are examining CCTV footage and carrying out witness and forensic enquiries to locate the person responsible, and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to please contact us, as it may assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, 101 quoting ref. 21000260089 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.

At one stage, the lout grabbed Mr Brown's head and pushed it into the coach dashboard.

During the angry exchanges, as Ms Brown repeatedly told the attacker she didn't drive to Aigburth, he replied: "Yes you f***ng do, stop lying!"

The mum-of-three, from Hyde, Manchester, is convinced the youth was either very drunk or on drugs at the time.

She told the ECHO: "This lad sneaked onto the coach as I was doing the luggage.

"He was just sitting there, expecting me to take him home.

"He called me all sorts of names, and told me I was chatting "s***."

"He was right in my face so I pushed him away and he then started punching and biting me.

"I've got a thick lip. a bump on my head, and two big bite marks and bruises on my leg.

"It seemed to go on forever.

"I'll need to check if I need a tetanus jab, or something.

"It's left me shaken up, I've done the job for 20 years, but this is the worst thing that's ever happened to me while working.

"At one stage, I asked him, '"would you speak to your mum like that?"

"But he ignored that.

"I don't go to work for this."

Gareth MCallister, the coach company boss from MP Travel, based in Runcorn, said: "I'm absolutely disgusted.

"You don't expect to come to work and deal with that.

"Jane is in her late 50s, and this man was in his late teens or early 20s.

"I feel so strongly about this that I'm going to put a cash reward so he is found."
