A man has appeared in court charged with murdering his own dad.
David Lavender appeared before a judge at Sefton Magistrates Court this morning after the death of father Anthony Lavender on December 29 last year.
Police were called to a home on Woodhall Street in Old Swan shortly before midnight and found the 79-year-old with a head injury.

He died at the scene and David was arrested a short time later.
The 37-year-old was charged yesterday with the murder of his dad, who often went by the name Tony.
Police said after the incident that Tony suffered a head injury.
Wearing a grey tracksuit, David Lavender spoke this morning only to confirm his date of birth and address.
District Judge Wendy Lloyd immediately sent the case to Liverpool Crown Court and ordered Lavender be remanded in custody.
He is due to appear at the crown court later this week.
Tributes to Tony were left outside his house after his death and Merseyside Police put out an appeal for any potential witnesses to contact them.
