Boris Johnson has announced tonight that face masks must be worn in more settings such as theatres and cinemas.
As from Friday it will be a legal requirement to wear a face mask in public indoor venues, including theatres and cinemas.
Face coverings were already made mandatory again in shops and on public transport as from November 27, but as the Omicron variant spreads, the Prime Minister has tightened the restrictions once more.

Speaking in a press conference from No 10 tonight he said: "From this Friday we will extend the requirement to wear a face mask in most indoor venues including theatres and cinemas.
"There will be of course exceptions where it is not practical such as when eating, drinking, exercising or singing."
The changes come about as the latest coronavirus variant, Omicron, is spreading exceptionally fast.
Professor Chris Whitty said: "The aim of the measures announced by the Prime Minister is to slow things down, but it is doubling currently between two and three days. That is an extraordinarily fast rate."
