Face mask warning issued to people with flights to Spain

Rules have been issued for holidaymakers flying to Spain - which requires passengers to wear a face covering.

The EU previously announced it would be scrapping its face mask mandate from May 16, however, Spain's current face mask rules mean anyone over the age of six must wear a face covering on public transport, the Mirror reports.

Spanish Health Minister Carolina Darias told local media this week that passengers would still need to wear them on flights to Spain. The rules on face coverings on flights in unlikely to change in the coming days.

Announcing the news earlier this week, EASA Executive Director Patrick Ky said: “From next week, face masks will no longer need to be mandatory in air travel in all cases, broadly aligning with the changing requirements of national authorities across Europe for public transport.

"For passengers and air crews, this is a big step forward in the normalisation of air travel. Passengers should however behave responsibly and respect the choices of others around them. And a passenger who is coughing and sneezing should strongly consider wearing a face mask, for the reassurance of those seated nearby."

As well as face masks, there are other rules that Brits need to be aware of before heading to Spain, including a new six drinks limit for UK holiday-goers on all-inclusive holidays to Majorca and Ibiza.
