Face mask rules for bars, pubs, restaurants and hairdressers as they reopen across Liverpool

Bars, restaurants, cafes and pubs reopen across the city today after months of being closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When doors do open, there will be a laundry list of rules customers and staff will need to follow to ensure venues remain ‘covid secure’.

Among the rules are a limited amount of time allowed stood the bar, contactless payments and providing your contact details.

What many are wondering though, is if you’ll need a face mask to visit a bar, pub, restaurant, cafe or hairdresser..

While face masks are not compulsory at these venues, as they are at hospitals and on public transport, some places may ask you to bring one with you.

The new ‘one metre plus’ social distancing rule comes into effect today, where the two metre rule cannot be met.

Enter your postcode to find venues that are reopening in your area:

This means it is now possible to be one metre away from someone outside your household, instead of two metres, as long as there is another mitigating factor in place, such as a screen, face-covering or hand-washing facilities.

If the venue you’re visiting does not have these measures in place, advice is to stay two metres apart, or wear a face mask.

Some venues, such as hairdressers, are asking customers to wear a face covering, though this is based on their individual preferences, so it’s worth checking in advance if you’ll need to bring one with you.
