Face mask rules could be kept after June 21 but do you still wear yours? Have your say

Face masks have become part of our daily routine during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since summer 2020, wearing a face mask in the shops and on public transport has been mandatory except for those who were exempt.

Even before the law changed, many people had started wearing surgical or cloth masks while out in public, in a bid to keep themselves and others safe from the risk of infection.

But now as we start to look forward to a future without Covid restrictions on our lives, we are still not sure if masks will be needed.

When Health Secretary Matt Hancock was asked if the Government was considering keeping some restrictions such as mask wearing and work-from-home guidance after June 21, Mr Hancock said further decisions would be made in the coming weeks.

“There is nothing in the data to suggest we are definitively off track but it is too early to make the decision about June 21, step four in the road map,” he told a press conference at the Jenner Institute in Oxford.

“We’ll make that decision based on more data in the next week to 10 days, ahead of June 14, as we’ve set out.”

As restrictions have gradually been lifted during the last few months, do you feel comfortable not wearing a mask out in public?

Or will you keep your covering on until cases fall further and more vaccines are rolled out?
