Fabricio Bustos in Celtic transfer link as Hoops 'replace' RC Lens at head of the queue

Celtic are reportedly in ‘poll position’ to sign Argentinian right back Fabricio Bustos.

Reports in France suggest the Scottish Premiership side area at the head of the queue to get the 28-year-old from Independiente.

French outlet hommedumatch.fr had previously reported that RC Lens were keen to sign the defender should Jonathan Clauss move on after being linked with a move to AEK.

He’s set to stay with the French club however, which seems to have catapulted Celtic ahead of the Ligue 1 outfit in the chase for Bustos.

It's thought the Argentinian club are looking for a fee of around £3.4million.

Ange Postecoglou has made right back a priority and it was understood a deal to bring in Aurelio Buta from Royal Antwerp.

However, competition from Galatasaray and Fenerbahce has emerged, while the Hoops will face Antwerp in the play-off off round of the Europa League should they finish the job against Jablonec next week.

A 4-2 win in the Czech Republic last night puts them in a string position to do just that.

Anthony Ralston has been a regular on the right hand side of defence and scored a fine equaliser against Hearts at the weekend, although the visitors went on to lose their opening game of the league season.

But Postecoglou demands a lot of his full backs, wanting them to play infield when Celtic have possession to create an overload in midfield and give the wingers space to attack.

But so far he’s been unable to add a more experienced alternative to Ralston. Rennes Sacha Boey was a target earlier in the summer, but moved to Galatasaray instead.
