Fabricio Bruno transfer collapse could rekindle Celtic interest in Brazilian star

Celtic could rekindle their interest in Fabricio Bruno after his move to Red Bull Bragantino collapsed.

Neil Lennon 's side have been tacking the Brazilian closely for months, but looked set to miss out on him after Bragantino agreed to sign him from financially-stricken Cruzeiro.

But the energy drinks giants have ordered the newly-promoted club to scrap the deal.

Bragantino, who will play in Brazil's top flight for the first time this season, initially agreed to pay Cruzeiro £2 million and his former Belo Horizonte club would also get a chunky sell-on clause in the deal.

But Red Bull bosses in Austria have intervened and refused to back the deal following legal advice because Bruno is still involved in a court case against Cruzeiro for unpaid wages.

Red Bull Bragantino director of football, Ocimar Bolicenho, said: "We were ordered not to proceed with the transfer after advice from the head office in Austria.

"This is because we have been informed the player still has legal proceedings pending with Cruzeiro. The transfer now won't happen.

Celtic are looking to strengthen in the transfer window for the second half of the season and this latest development could put Bruno back on the Premiership champions' radar.
