Fabricio Bruno transfer blow for Celtic as Cruzeiro defender nears Red Bull move

Celtic look ready to miss out on Brazilian defender Fabricio Bruno as he nears a move to Red Bull Bragantino.

The 24-year-old Cruizeiro defender had been in dispute with his club in a bid to force a move to Glasgow and the Hoops have also been warned about missing out on other targets such as Andraz Sporar and Ismaila Soro.

However, Cruzeiro have now found a solution to Bruno's dispute with them by agreeing to sell him to Serie B champions Red Bull Bragantino, who are now backed financially by the energy soft drinks giants and will play in Brazilian Serie A for the first time in their history.

Bragantino will pay Cruzeiro £2 million and will also have a chunky sell-on clause in the deal.

And they will pay Bruno £500,000 of the transfer fee in return for him dropping his lawsuit against the club, where he initially claimed £2.5 million for unpaid wages and image rights.

Cruzeiro chief executive Ocimar Bolicenho said: "We had a very good meeting with the new representatives of Fabricio Bruno and are extremely close to agreeing a solution.

"That should be confirmed this week."

Cruzeiro had previously fired a warning at Celtic over Bruno's agent, insisting he was untrustworthy.

Neil Lennon's men are currently in Dubai on a winter training camp.
