Fabio Paratici learns lofty £42m transfer price as Tottenham step up search for attacking recruits

Tottenham transfer target Joaquin Correa is reportedly set to cost £42million this summer should Spurs pursue a move.

The north Londoners have been linked with a move for the Argentine throughout the summer, as Nuno Espirito Santo attempts to bolster his squad ahead of his first season in charge.

It has been reported that Correa is amongst a list of viable attacking candidates to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, with the club having also been linked with the likes of Vitinha and Danny Ings recently.

However, a deal for the Lazio wideman is not set to be cheap. According to Tuttomercatoweb, Correa is set to cost between €40-€50m (£34-£42m) this summer should Spurs pursue a move after reportedly having a bid rejected.

That would certainly be a high price for Spurs to achieve considering that the club have only forked out more than that on one player in their history - the reported £54m purchase of midfielder Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon in 2019.

Considering the financial situation of most clubs due to the COVID-19, it would be hard to envisage Fabio Paratici signing off such an arrival - especially with reported competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.

Newly-appointed Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri has recently admitted that Correa could be set to depart the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Talking in a press conference, the Italian said: “For me, he can be the forward to leave, if he has the desire and incentives to do it.

“For some time he had expressed the desire to change the air, but if he has changed his mind I am the most happy of all.

“I have asked him to be willing to play the attacker starting from the left.”

The 26-year-old, who recently lifted the Copa America with Argentina, still has three years left to run on his contract with Lazio.
