Tottenham are reportedly set to lose out on reported transfer target Joachim Andersen, with the Dane thought to be close to a move to Crystal Palace.
It was reported that the former Fulham defender was under consideration by Tottenham this summer as they searched for defensive recruits.
It was also suggested that he was “almost certain” to remain in London following a successful loan spell at Craven Cottage, leading to plenty of speculation that he could be on route to Spurs.
Andersen is indeed set to stay in the capital beyond this summer but instead with Crystal Palace and not Spurs.
According to reports in Denmark, the 25-year-old is closing in on a switch to Selhurst Park after a fee was agreed between the Eagles and the defender’s parent club Lyon.
The transfer fee is suggested to be €22m (£18.8m) with a further €5m (£4.2m) in potential add-ons.
Andersen’s move to Palace will be a huge blow to Spurs, with the defender having impressed in the Premier League last season despite Fulham having suffered an instant relegation to the Championship.
Missing out on the centre-back will be even more frustrating considering Toby Alderweireld’s expected move to Qatari side Al-Duhail edging closer.
It was previously reported that a £13m fee had been agreed for the Belgian and he has even been spotted in Qatar sporting the colours of his new employers.
Whilst there will be frustration having missed out on the signing of Andersen, Spurs can find solace in the fact that they are edging close to a deal for Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero.
